Mona In The Community

Aside from its responsibility to its customers and employees, Mona Electric believes it is also obligated to its community. The company routinely ranks as one of the top charitable organizations in the Washington area.

Mona Electric is particularly proud of its association with the Christmas in April organization, which was founded in the state of Maryland by Mona’s owner and CEO, Cap Mona. The Prince George’s County Christmas In April headquarters is located in the Mona office building. In the state of Maryland, Christmas in April has repaired over 6,000 homes of the needy by over 140,000 concerned volunteers from all walks of life.

According to the May, 2003 issue of the Washington Business Journal, based on the value of Mona Electric Group’s in-kind donations in 2002, the organization was tied with AOL/Time Warner as the third highest charitable contributor in the Washington area. Mona’s charitable contributions to Christmas in April, trade schools and other deserving organizations that serve the community have been a priority since the organization’s earliest years.

The Susan and Andrew Mona Foundation has been the primary vehicle through which the organization has channeled decades of support. The foundation was named as a tribute to the late Susan D. Mona, the company’s former Vice President and Treasurer and her late son, Andrew M. Mona, who had served as President of Mona Electric’s Service Group. The Foundation has supported numerous organizations and worthy causes including Christmas in April, Catholic Charities – Beacon of Hope Susan D. Mona Center, Forestville Pregnancy Center and Bishop McNamara High School.
